Forget Camden! The Best Areas to Shop Vintage in London

Two modern women in fashionable clothes, shopping at a vintage market in London.

Bored of the same old charity shops? Camden feeling too crowded or uninspiring?

Let’s mix things up with London’s real thrifting districts. The under-the-radar neighbourhoods bursting with unique vintage finds, a refreshing lack of high-street bustle, and the chance to support local businesses.

Win. Win. Win. 😍

Oh, and you’ll find some great deals on great items you’re bound to love. That’s it. That’s what we’re talking about in today’s guide. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Let’s go.

Brick Lane

Brick Lane is a thrifter’s paradise. You might even argue the thrifter’s paradise.

Between the street art and the chai wallahs, the backstreets here are basically a treasure map of pre-loved finds. Sundays are when it really comes alive - the Brick Lane Vintage market takes over, and sellers line the streets.

Pro tip: Bring cash for street vendors; they often have the best deals.

  • Beyond Retro: The OG vintage spot. The basement has £20 rails full of gems.

  • Brick Lane Vintage: I mean, come on, the name says it all. A corner shop with a passion.

  • Thrifted @ Brick Lane: Affordable, 100% authentic, and 400 items added daily. What more could you ask for?

  • Cream Vintage: Trend-led eclectic-alt clothing and accessories, both preloved and vintage.

  • Hunky Dory: Super cosy old-school vibes. Primarily menswear from the 40s to the 70s.

  • Rokit: Well-established, great shopping in-store or online, and tons of great stuff. A fan favourite for sure.

Shoreditch

Right next to Brick Lane, Shoreditch is perfect for a thrifting spree. The whole area gives off that effortlessly cool energy, with vintage stores everywhere you look.

Redchurch Street and Shoreditch High Street are the main spots here, especially if you're into streetwear-meets-old-school vibes.

Portobello Road

This market's been serving looks since before your parents were born, for real. Get here early on Fridays or Saturdays - that's when serious vintage lovers hunt for the best designer.

  • One-of-a-kind Archive: Rare and designer vintage that's totally worth saving up for.

  • 282 Portobello: Loooads of gorgeous leather here. And all of the usual suspects, too.

  • Found and Vision: Their speciality is fine and fun! If you’re looking for collectable pieces, you’ll want to check this one out.

Peckham

Peckham’s been making moves in silence - really. Between Rye Lane and Bellenden Road, you'll find some of the city's most authentic thrifting experiences.

The prices haven't gone crazy (yet), and you're much more likely to find pieces that haven't been picked over than in Central.

  • One Scoop Store: Part community space, part thrifting goldmine. Curated collections change weekly.

  • Little Sister: An ever evolving range of eclectic vintage for women and men – including accessories!

  • Peckham Salvage Yard: A huge monthly thrifting event run by Hackney Flea Market. Confusingly, not in Hackney at all. Expect vintage and secondhand everything!

Covent Garden

Yes, it's tourist central, but hear me out. The side streets are where the real preloved gems are hiding. It's a bit pricey, but the pieces are carefully curated and authentic.

  • Cow: Your best bet for finding one-of-a-kind vintage and handmade rework garments.

  • Wow Retro: Amazing menswear selection. Rare thrifty finds in great quality.

  • Check It Vintage: Small but mighty. Their denim collection is next level!

Quickfire tips

Wherever you choose to go, here are some tips to make sure your trip is worth your while and a great experience from start to finish:

  • Most thrifting spots get new stock on Thursdays

  • Follow your favourite stores on Insta - they usually post when fresh stock drops and give you insight into when the best deals and sales are live.

  • Bring a tote! Most places charge for bags.
